FORELINE ADVISORY

FORELINE ADVISORY

Inside a Strategic Intelligence Sprint.

A fictional example of the structure and reasoning an engagement can use.

Illustrative structure only. This is not a client case study, completed research or a current market assessment. No actual port, company, source finding or commercial recommendation is asserted.

1. Decision and key intelligence question

A fictional marine equipment SME is considering allocating business development resources to a North African port ecosystem. Its question: “Is there sufficient evidence of accessible demand to justify a distributor search over the next 90 days?”

2. Executive assessment

A completed Sprint would state its main judgement, the supporting evidence, confidence and the implication for the decision. In this demonstration the judgement is deliberately left open: no research has been conducted to support a go/no-go conclusion.

3. Evidence requirements

The source appendix would record publisher, date, link, access date, relevant observation and limitations. Independent corroboration must be distinguished from multiple publications repeating one source.

4. Competing explanations and confidence

A visible investment announcement could signal accessible demand, an early project with uncertain funding, or demand already tied to established suppliers. Research would test these alternatives before recommending further expenditure.

Confidence would reflect source quality, independence, recency and consistency. Missing procurement detail, unclear timing or unverified partner claims would be stated as gaps.

5. Decision options and indicators

Depending on the eventual evidence, options could include proceeding to a narrowly defined distributor search, delaying until a funding milestone, or stopping the initiative. Potential indicators include tender publication, confirmed financing, contract awards and new supplier partnerships.

6. Deliverable and readout

The paid Sprint normally provides 8–12 pages or slides, a source appendix where required, one clarification round and a 30-minute executive readout. The actual format follows the agreed question; this demonstration is not a substitute for a scoped assessment.
